HORSE MACKEREL (TRACHURUS TRACHURUS)

Horse Mackerel belongs to the family of the Carangidae, in the order of the Peciformes. (Bluefish).

Many times it is called Caranx depending on its size. This fish is known for different species. From all of them, the jack mackerel is considered to be the one with the best quality.

Obtaining of the product:

Extractive fishing: the most common ways are fishing with bottom trawl, trammel net and fishing net. Capture zone is the Northwest Atlantic (FAO 27)

Presentation of the product:

• FRESH: Entire fish and refrigerated in water, ice and salt.
• FROZEN: Whole Round IQF Freezing in Brine.
